Mr. Decker joined Hartford National Corporation (predecessor to Shawmut Bank) where he gained broad experience in wealth management. He was appointed Vice President and Director of Planning Services at Fiscal Dynamics, Inc., a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in planning for family-owned businesses and executives of Fortune 500 companies. While at Fiscal Dynamics, he served as the firm’s Director of Research, Due Diligence and Compliance.
In 1995, Mr. Decker started Continuum, Incorporated and served as the firm’s President until merging his practice into The United States Trust Company in 1999. While at U.S. Trust, Mr. Decker served in a number of senior management positions including Regional Director of the Connecticut Wealth Management Divisions in West Hartford and Essex, Connecticut. From 2006 through 2008, he directed the management of over $1.4 billion in assets and a staff of 20 senior investment and planning professionals. Mr. Decker also served on the Trust Committee of U.S. Trust Company of Delaware.
In 2008, Mr. Decker formed HT Partners LLC, a family wealth consulting firm dedicated to serving the needs of ultra high net worth clients and families. In his role as managing member of the firm, he serves on the firm’s Executive Committee and as a member of its Investment Policy Committee. He created the firm’s virtual family office platform which allows for open access to unique wealth management solutions without sacrificing the firm’s highly personalized services. Mr. Decker serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer and oversees the regulatory oversight of the firm.
Mr. Decker serves as a Professional Trustee for a many ultra high net worth clients. He also specializes in the management of alternative asset classes including closely held businesses and direct real estate holdings. He currently serves in a management capacity for a number of closely held business entities throughout the United States.
In 2006, Mr. Decker completed an Executive Graduate Program in Finance at Stanford University. Mr. Decker completed a masters degree in taxation at the University of New Haven in 1997 specialized in public taxation with a concentration in estate and charitable gift planning. Mr. Decker also attended the nationally recognized New England School of Banking at William’s College. He holds a professional graduate certificate in taxation from the University of New Haven and is a 1987 graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University where he majored in psychology.
Peter, his wife, Maria, and their three children, Ragan, Kiernan and Jacob, live in Essex, Connecticut.
